The Power of the Class 56 - Railway DVD
The British Rail Class 56 is a heavy freight locomotive first introduced in 1976. The first 30 locomotives were built in Romania followed by a further 105 being built by BREL at Doncaster and Crewe. The final locomotive was delivered in 1984, completing the fleet of 135 locomotives.
By 2004 most of the fleet had been wothdrawn by EWS. Many were sent for scrap, however some returned to service with private operators and a few entered preservation.
This exclusive DVD features footage of 106 different locomotives filmed between 1996 & 2001.
During this period there were a wide range of liveries including Railfreight, BR Blue, Transrail Load Haul, EWS and Dutch.
Filming locations include Barnetby, Burton-on-Trent, Clay Cross, Crewe, Derby, Didcot, Doncaster, Newport, Norton Bridge, Peterborough, Rotherham, Rugby, Selby, Stafford, Trent Junction, Ulceby, Water Orton, Warrington and Willesden.
