DRS 37059 & 37069 with Pathfinder Tours 'The Heart Of Wales Wanderer' 24th March 2018
On the 24th March 2018 Pathfinder Rail Tours ran an excursion from Eastleigh in Hampshire to Shrewsbury and LLandridnod Wells then returning via LLandovery, Newport, Cheltenham, Birmingham and Oxford, a round trip of 588 miles using a pair of DRS Class 37 Locomotives. No's: 37059 and 37069. The train ran as far as Shrewsbury with the headcode of 1Z37 and then continued to Eastleigh as 1Z38, running on time mostly (within 10 minutes) and through some stunning scenery. I captured the train first early in the morning, as 1Z37 paused at Oxford Station seen from the Down Carriage Sidings (Partially Raining) and then much later that evening just before midnight as she stopped for her "Set Down Only" stop at Basingstoke Station. This rail tour was named appropriately "The Heart Of Wales Wanderer" and I believe is one of the best rail tours you can go on for scenery and consumes a whole day of traveling and sightseeing in such beautiful locations.
