LMS 45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier' with 'The Bath & Bristol Steam Express' 18th March 2017
On 18th March 2017 "The Railway Touring Company" (RYTC) ran "The Bath & Bristol Steam Express" from Three Bridges near Gatwick Airport to Bath and Bristol Temple Meads via Hove, Havant, Eastleigh, Salisbury, Westbury and Bath. The choice of Locomotive in the end was "Black Five" LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive number 45407. "The Lancashire Fusilier". The train ran Empty Stock from Southall WCR to Three Bridges where the excursion began running as 1Z92. Looking splendid and on time I caught the train as she picked up passengers at Haywards Heath Station, then a journey across Sussex took me to Chichester where again I captured 1Z92 as she speedily passed travelling along the Sussex Coastal Route. It was quite a breezy day but it did just about remain dry. Later in the day after the passengers had explored the cities the train returned via the same route as earlier ,running near to time and looking superb even though it was dark where I captured now running as 1Z94 racing through Havant Station heading East along the Sussex Coast again. Once the train arrived at Three Bridges the day was not over yet for 45407 and her crew and support staff as the train returned to Southall WCR running Empty Stock. Nice to see a "Black Five" work all this way without any assistance in these days, hats off again to all involved in the organisation of this trip...
