North Norfolk Railway Spring Steam Gala 8th March 2014

Third month of the year, third gala of the year. The North Norfolk Railway is my next gala, with their annual Spring Steam Gala. This years had its problems like last years, but at least it didn't chuck it down!! This gala was supposed to be called A 4 * (star) Gala, due to their star loco being LNER Class A4 no.60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'. Unfortunately, Network Rail told the NNR (one week before the gala) that no.7 was too big and heavy for a bridge between Norwich and Sheringham. Luckily, the NNR gathered a replacement in the form of GWR Pannier Class 16xx no.1638. Another strike of bad luck hit the railway, when 1638 and 5619 both failed on Friday, mean 2 diesels would appear in the STEAM gala. Another bit of luck was found, when they managed to get 1638 steaming. Sadly 5619 still remained a failure and was replaced by BR Class 37 no.D6732. The weather turned out to be brilliant as well as the performance of the locos.
